  • Ballet Encyclopedia This site has information on ballet, its history, great dancers, and specific ballets.
  • Dance Terms American Ballet Theatre dictionary of dance terms.
  • Met Museum Ballet The Met Museum offers a brief synopsis of classical ballet and modern dance forms along with some links to their representations in painting and sculpture.
  • Modern Dance The Smithsonian site has a general overview of modern and goes into greater detail about some important modern choreographers.
  • History of Modern Dance This site is a wonderful interactive resource that gives a history of modern dance, an introduction to important dancers, a glossary of terms, and even an online exam for testing your knowledge of what you study.
  • History of Jazz Dance This site explores the history of jazz dance and its characteristics.
