Module 6 Competence Builder: Find the "Red Herring"!
*Review the Reader's Handbook definition of "Relevance Fallacies" on page 198. Find the definition of a "Red Herring" and put it into your own words.
*The "Red Herring" technique is frequently used in movies and mystery novels to subvert the truth. Go to the LCE1 community Module 6 competence builder thread and give an example from a movie, play, novel, or real-life situation in which you've seen the "Red Herring" used effectively.
*Explain how and when you determined that the 'Red Herring' was not "fact."
*Want an example? The Harry Potter books are full of "Red Herrings"
