Activity 1: Introduction

Tasks A & B direct you to plan and to justify the organization of your essay which will present your analysis of an open-ended issue or problem leading to a justified conclusion or solution.  Look for the “Guidelines for Your Outline” document attached to the directions for Tasks A & B.  This document provides you a general plan of organization to help you organize your outline and essay so that a grader will easily be able to find the critical thinking components being assessed.   Keep in mind there are still a number of decisions to make while following this general outline.  In all of the organizing decisions you make, of course, keep the reader in mind.  That is, make it easy for the reader to follow your reasoning and to find all the necessary components of critical thinking identified by the grading rubric.  Also consider adding headings and subheadings to direct the reader to the necessary components being assessed.   These headings and subheadings--if you decide to use them--should appear in both the outline and the final essay.
