Activity 4: TaskStream

After you’ve read carefully the assigned chapters in the texts and worked through the related MindEdge modules, go to TaskStream where you can access and read the Task 2 rubric and questions. Scroll down on the page of task instructions and click on the task rubric to view it. Then go to the Task 2 questions accessed by clicking on the “Form” tab.

Note that the Task 2 questions or prompts are asking for specific information from the assigned chapters. The question students sometimes have is, “Should I just answer the specific questions, or do I need to include additional information in my summary?” The answer is, be sure to answer the specific questions in your summary, but include other content that you determine should be in an overview of each chapter. Be sure to do this in your own words, in complete sentences, and in no more than a paragraph or two.  In other words, do not respond with a list of isolated words and phrases.

It will be useful to make notes before writing your responses, but be sure the writing you submit follows a coherent paragraph format. As you make notes to write summaries in Task 2, be sure to include the specific information each question requires.  When you write each chapter summary, work from your notes rather than the texts. This way you will be using your own language and not the language of the texts. Most students will probably write and edit responses outside of TaskStream and then cut & paste responses into the text boxes provided in TaskStream. When you edit, be sure to look for transitions between sentences. Make sure each sentence logically follows the previous one.
