Low-Carbohydrate/High Protein Diet
There is much debate over the efficacy of low-carbohydrate/ high-protein diets. It is not a new concept. The original low-carbohydrate diet surfaced in 1825: www.eatright.org/cps/rde/xchg/ada/hs.xsl/media_11092_ENU_HTML.htm
Today, some organizations warn against it:
- Consider the functions of carbohydrates. What benefits and/or problems do you see associated with following such a diet?

While other studies indicate it could be a viable option for certain populations: http://jama.ama-assn.org/cgi/content/full/297/9/969
Think back to the first module. What food groups are high sources of carbohydrates? What other micronutrients are found primarily in these food groups?
