The focus of this module is to identify the function of macronutrients in body functions, to recognize why it is important to include adequate amounts of macronutrients in the diet and avoid over-consumption.

Access Prior Knowledge

You will now begin a more in-depth study of macronutrients. If you have not already done so, add what you know about the sources, functions, digestion and metabolism of the macronutrients to your concept map.

  • What are the building blocks of each of the macronutrients?
  • What are the storage forms of each?
  • Functions of each?
  • Dietary recommendations for each?

Some of this information should be a review from the previous module.
