Activity 4:  Guiding Questions and Competence Builder

Answer the following questions using information gained through the readings, Thinkwell, CourseCompass, and websites.  Enter answers and thoughts on the topics in your notebook.

  1. When are accepted theories changed?
  2. Why are researchers starting to complement reductionism with a systems approach to biology?
  3. Outline key historical developments in life science, physical science, and earth science.
  4. Describe themes that unify biology.
