Activity 3: Assessments

Quantitative Literacy prepares students for two different assessments – Quantitative Reasoning and Communication (MQTA) and Quantitative Literacy (QLO1).

  • Performance Tasks (MQTA)

There are 13 performance tasks to be completed via TaskStream.  You are not required to do these tasks in the order they are listed in TaskStream.  It is a good idea to follow the order given on the course of study.  Also, pay particular attention to the notes included on the course of study and guided learning tool, as this will help you find further resources if you need/want them.  While there is no time limit, it is advisable that you use the course of study to follow your goal/plan.

  • Objective Exam (QLO1)

There are multiple forms of the QLO1 Math Objective Assessment. Each from contains a total of 49 objective items.  The IBT Prometric server "counts" each Matching item as a separate item.  The IBT item “counts” range from 84 to 87 depending on the form of the assessment you receive.

The passing score is 59%. There is a time limit of 3.5 hours, and the test is divided into sections. Within a section, you may mark an item for review and return to it before leaving a section.  Once you have left a section, you cannot return to it, and you should not use the back/forward button.  The naviagtion buttons within the delivery system should be used instead.  You should choose the best option for each question, and there will be a 5 minute warning before your time is up.

When you go to the proctored site, do not bring any texts or study materials with you, but do bring some identification and a calculator.  Click here for the Calculator Policy.   You will take the assessment online.  Read each question carefully to make sure you understand what you are being asked to do.
