Activity 5: Learning Resources

The learning resources aligned to this course are listed below. Links to these resources are found under the Learning Resources tab of the Academic Action Plan in the my.wgu.edu portal.

Required:

MyLiteratureLab:  This online learning resource is set up in module format that corresponds with the module topics on the Study Guide. MyLiteratureLab allows the student to work through the topics at their own pace and see specific examples of the literary elements and how they are used in works of Poetry, Fiction, and Drama.

Go to the site http://www.coursecompass.com and log in using your created log in name and password. Click on the course titled WGU MyLiteratureLab with Literature: An Intro to Fiction, Poetry, and Drama (Course ID arts 43775.)  On the left side menu click on the tab that says “Start Here: Mod. 1 & 2” and work your way through the learning modules in the order they appear on the website.

  Optional:

Abromitis Literature course: This course will focus on the literary study of poems, short stories, and plays. Students will:

  • Analyze the technical and thematic aspect of various poems and write a paper demonstrating such an analysis.
  • Compare and contrast elements of short stories, writing a paper demonstrating their ability to write an in-depth comparison/contrast analysis of two stories.
Examine plays for dramatic literary conventions, completing a short essay exam demonstrating their skill in dramatic literary analysis.
