Activity 1: Introduction
The information you’ve looked at so far has come from others. In many research projects, you can also conduct and report your own research findings. The way that college students collect their own information is by conducting field research. This generally means making systematic observations, conducting surveys, or participating in interviews. Any beginner will need some background in order to approximate valid field research. Some guidelines to consider regarding field research are given in this document. Task 5 in TaskStream invites you to either administer a survey or conduct an interview, the purpose being to gather information to include in your research paper. This is an important addition because this is primary research reported by the person who collected it. Of course, you may also include in your research paper primary research conducted and reported by others.
