Activity 1: Introduction

In order to present in a natural, engaging way, practice is critical.  It is also important to practice your presentation to fit a given time.   To run overtime is unforgivable.  Remember, it is best to practice or rehearse out loud.  The more you practice, the better you’ll perform.

Keep in mind: 1) It is better to talk than to read aloud; 2) Make eye contact, and stand as you present; 3) Gesture appropriately to emphasize your points, and speak loudly; 4) Focus on your main points by incorporating your visual aides; 5) In your introduction, remember to forecast what you are going to cover; 6) In your conclusion, summarize your main points and leave your audience with an image, example or key idea to remind them of your thesis.
