Activity 5: Recording Device Selection and Recording

In order to submit your presentation for grading, you will need to record it in a digital video format and upload it to the Internet. If you have never uploading video online before, this may seem like a daunting task; however, you can easily complete this process using the steps below.

  1. First, you need to select a recording device. You want to select a device that records in digital format at the lowest resolution possible. These are the easiest devices to use for this task: a web camera with sound, the video function (with sound included) on a still image digital camera, or a disposable digital video camera (available for approximately $30 at Walgreens, CVS, and similar stores). If you are using one of these three types of recording devices, you can skip step #2.
  2. If you are using a tape-based video camcorder or a digital video camcorder, you will need to look in the instruction manual for the device and set it at the lowest video resolution possible.
  3. Record your presentation. Make sure you are visible and audible at all times during the presentation.
