Activity 5: Additional Study Aids

These study aids are available through the Geography: People, Places and Environment LR. Log on, click on the “Geography e-book” tab, and then select Chapter 2. You can find a number of different quizzes to test your knowledge of key topics from the chapter. Make sure to also check out the link to additional web destinations. You can do the same for Chapter 4.

Visit the U.S. History, Government and Geography Learning Community and click on the Module 9 discussion thread to participate in a Competence Builder that examines the impact local ecosystems have on our everyday life.

  • Competence Builder: Examining ecosystems in greater detail.  What sort of ecosystem do you live in?  How is your local environment shaped by geography and climate?  Is it overt?  Or are there more subtle relationships between your home and its surroundings?  Think about the place where you live, and post below describing your climate and ecosystem.  How has human habitation of your city taken advantage of the climate and geography, and how has it had to work against those environmental factors?

Log on to Geography: People, Places, and Environment and select the "Module Quizzes" tab.  Click on the link for the Module 8/9 Quiz.  As you complete the modules, set aside 30-45 minutes to take the quiz.  Do not use your notes or texts when taking the module quiz.  Once you have started the module quiz, you will need to complete it to have your answers graded.  The module quizzes provide feedback about correct and incorrect answers to help you focus your study time.
