• Click on the “History e-book” tab and select Chapter 2. Click on “Chapter Resources” and then “Review Tools” for quizzes and flashcards to test your knowledge of key topics from the chapter. You can do the same for the other chapters in this module.
• You can also click on the “Map Room” link for Chapter 2, 4, 5, 6, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30 maps, which cover the territorial distribution of the original thirteen colonies, land acquisition under the Articles of Confederation and the new republic, and demographic shifts in the twentieth century that had significant impacts on the electoral map. They also describe the strategic movements of the Second World War and some of the fronts that opened during the Cold War.

Make sure to go to the WGU e-reserves and read the selection of Chapter 3 (pages 80-93) in Garraty and Carnes' A Short History of the American Nation.

Visit the U.S. History, Government and Geography Learning Community and click on the Module 4 discussion thread to participate in a Competence Builder that explores the legacies of major American presidents.

• Competence Builder: Examining the careers of influential presidents in greater detail.  Select a president that you think was significant in American history.  Post below the president you chose, explain why you chose him, and outline his significance for the presidency and for the country.  What makes a presidency significant?  Has the president become more important to the operation of the country?  How do we remember presidents?  Does our collective opinion of the a sucessful or unsucessful presidency change as we get further away from it?

Log on to America Past and Present and select the "Module Quizzes" tab.  Click on the link for the Module 4 Quizzes.  As you complete the module, set aside 30-45 minutes to take each quiz.  Do not use your notes or texts when taking the module quizzes.  Once you have started a module quiz, you will need to complete it to have your answers graded.  The module quizzes provide feedback about correct and incorrect answers to help you focus your study time.
