Activity 1: Introduction

Have you ever wondered about the international impact of the American Revolution, and its importance for the development of the United States as an independent nation?  What was life like in Colonial America?  What was the colonists' motivation for breaking away from Great Britain?  How did the war begin?  Which battles shaped the outcome of the war?  How important was the office of the President in the early republic, and how has its role changed over time?  What were the characteristics and legacies of important American presidencies?
