- Read the following chapters in America Past and
Present. These readings offer information on early
European explorers, the discovery of the New World, the indigenous
populations and early settlements in America.
- Chapter 1: “New World Encounters” (pages 1-21)
- Chapter 2: “Conflicting Visions: England’s Seventeenth-Century Colonies” (pages 22-40)
- Pay close attention to the maps on page 5, 30, 33 and 38
- Log on to Thinkwell, and read:
