Activity 3: Assessments

The Geography, U.S. History and Government competencies are assessed in two (2) assessments – Geography, U.S. History & Government Part I (IOA4) and Geography, U.S. History & Government Part II (IOC4). Note: IT students only take the IOC4.

The Geography, U.S. History & Government Part I Assessment (IOA4) consists of seven (7) tasks and is completed in Taskstream. You are not required to do these tasks in the order they are listed in TaskStream.  Also, pay particular attention to the notes included in the Course of Study, as this will help you find further resources if you need/want them.  While there is no time limit, it is advisable that you use the checklist to meet your goal/plan.

The Geography, U.S. History & Government Part II Assessment (IOC4) is a scheduled proctored objective exam at a secure testing center. You will have 2 hours to complete 72 questions covering United States history, geography, demography, the environment, the United States Constitution, law, and citizenship.

When you go to the proctored site, do not bring any texts or study materials with you, but do bring some identification.  Be sure you are rested, and wear comfortable clothes. You will take the assessment online.  Read each question carefully to make sure you understand what you are being asked to do.  Reread the question if needed. Because this is a timed test (2 hours for 72 questions), it is important that you pace yourself so you have time to answer all 72 questions.   The passing score on the IOC4 is 54% or better.
