Key Questions:
  • Can you identify the distinctive elements of Modern Moral Philosophy?
  • Do you recognize Hobbes' basic argument for an ethics based on a social contract?
  • What do you perceive to be the strengths and the weaknesses of social contract ethics?
  • Define utilitarianism.
  • Clearly state the arguments that support utilitarianism as a theory.
  • Can you identify the strengths and weaknesses of utilitarian ethics?
