Activity 1: Introduction
In this module, we will consider the definitions of ethics and morality, and review some of the earliest ethical systems, including the pre-philosophic origins of ethical thought and the rise of philosophic ethics in classical Greece. The beginnings of Western philosophy are attributed by many to the Greeks, who were known for their discussion of moral dilemmas. Their writings provided the foundation for much of modern society and community as we know it.
